Best U.S. Covers 2011 (According to Magnet)

Posted by Scott On January - 17 - 2012

Finally, a list of best covers from 2011 that are based primarily on sales performance.

Magnet, the U.S.-based data clearing house, just released its picks for the best U.S. covers of 2011, along with the data to back up their choices.

Over the next few days I’ll share with you each of their choices…which are hard to argue with when you see the results.  And hey, they also happen to be viusal treats as well.

According to Magnet, the “SPORTS ILLUSTRATED (10094) – Issue 2011-23 – HOW DEEP IT WENT T of SI, featuring Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel, sold more then twice the average of the previous 12 issues, over 51,000 copies at the newsstand.

Would it have hurt him to smile?

The cover lines are all on the right hand side, usually a fatal error.  So clearly, the story itself was what made this cover sell.
