Thanks to the generous sponsorship of K9Design www.k9designco.com, I am proud to launch a new feature on CoversSell.com…Then & Now.
The purpose of this section will be to draw attention to great magazine brands, and showcase how they have changed, or evolved, over the years. In some cases, I will show you launch issues vs. a contemporary cover. In other instances, I will show off a re-launch cover vs. the previous look. In yet other examples, I hope to bring you the many different variations that have graced the covers over a long stretch of time.
Just as Coca Cola’s Logo (an iconic product/brand) has evolved over the years, so too have great, iconic magazine brands. Packaging matters. Quaility does too. Keeping it fresh and new, while paying respect to the past is also critical. But, just as the cover price has changed from 10 cents in 1888, to $5.99 U.S. and $6.99 in Canada today, so too has the look and feel of the magazine.
Please share your magazine’s cover evolution with us, along with any commentary you’d like to add to the blog by contacting me anytime. Thanks to Peter Lebensold for the inspiration for this idea, and again to K9 Design for their sponsorship of this new section.
