Murder conspiracy and counselling charges against multi-millionaire Alex Petraitis, 69, former owner of Metro Tronto News and his former dominatrix mistress, were suddenly dismissed by The Crown, according to reports by three of Toronto’s top newspapers this morning.
The bizarre case, which included six trial dates and two mistrials, has been in the news since 2003, when Petraitis and his mistress allegedly approached her ex-boyfriend and onetime Hells Angels associate, Kerry Bob Anderson, to murder Petraitis’s then-wife of 39 years, Kirsten.
Sordid details began to emerge, many of which are recapped in the links below:

It appears that the case is now closed.
I wonder what this means. Is he guilty but there is insufficient evidence for a conviction or did they simply destroy an innocent, but foolish, man?
Good question. I’d only be speculating, and that isn’t fair. We are part of the media as publishers, and carry our own burdens for ethical journalisim.
I have received a lot of private emails and phone calls today on this post…more than usual that’s for sure. People don’t feel comfortable commenting publically, as they wish to protect their identities, which I honour on this blog.
What I am hearing mostly is that money buys a good lawyer, and good lawyers can prove that if the glove doesn’t fit you must acquit, or in this case, dismiss.
Many are speculating on how much of his reported $60 million went to his ex wife and his lawyer?
