Back on May 18th, we highlighted this cover as Cover of The Week, calling it “flawless” and predicting that it would “shatter some sales records.” This cover just did everything right, from the white background, to the a-list celebrity, to the tie-in to a new movie release, to a clean and uncluttered feel, to the use of strong numeric type to quantify the benefits, to the starburst highlighting the value proposition of a thick magazine. We likened it to a cover Cosmopolitan might do, if they were lucky.
The Summer 2010 issue of Fashion is now essentially closed and final with sales up 41% from Summer 2009; up 25% from Summer 2008; up 48% from Summer 2007; up 28% from Summer 2006; up 66% from Summer 2005; up 34% from Summer 2004; up 52% from Summer 2003; up 13% from Summer 2002; up 13% from Summer 2001; and up 41% from Summer 2000.
“We’re all very proud of the fashion team and very excited to have “shattered” the old newsstand record,” says Darlene Storey, VP Consumer Marketing.
The best-selling Sumer issue of Fashion in 11 years is something to be very proud of. Congratulations to the entire team at Fashion.
Well called Scott! It is a gorgeous cover and I like how they let you know right on the cover that the issue is bigger than ever.
